I find it deeply unsettling how quickly Western commentators adopt a narrative of total military superiority. Analysts are already declaring that Iran has “no defenses left,” treating the tactical escalation along its coastline as a done-deal victory to force negotiations. This kind of hubris is exactly how protracted conflicts start.

History shows us that asymmetric warfare doesn’t rely on conventional military tech; it thrives on chaos, sabotage, and geographic leverage. Assuming an adversary is completely toothless is a massive blind spot for geopolitical risk assessors. If the West miscalculates Tehran’s willingness to retaliate, the damage to global market averages will be swift and brutal. We are already seeing volatile market trends pulling heavily on major indexes. Investors shouldn’t mistake a quiet adversary for a defeated one complacency in a crisis is the ultimate portfolio killer.
